Nathaniel “Nate” Tower is the founder and managing member of Broad Reach Retail Partners, LLC.  Prior to the formation of Broad Reach, Mr. Tower was the Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”) at Phillips Edison & Company (“PECO”), one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing owner/operators of grocery-anchored shopping centers and premier acquisition groups.


As CIO, Mr. Tower led PECO’s effort to acquire, finance and grow the company’s portfolio from 5 centers in 1996 to over 90 centers when he left the company in 2005.  During this period, Mr. Tower bought 85 shopping centers in 50 separate transactions, with over $490 million in total transaction value.  Mr. Tower’s leadership and transaction success at PECO increased the company’s Net Operating Income in excess of $50.65 million and the value-add nature of the opportunities created an additional $250 million of net new value for the investors in the company.  


Prior to joining Phillips Edison & Company, Mr. Tower spent 7 years at Collier Pinkard, a premiere 3rd party Real Estate Brokerage and Property Management Company in Baltimore.  Mr. Tower has his Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster and his Masters in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University.  Mr. Tower formed the JEMICY School’s Alumni Association and served on the school’s board for 8 years.  In addition, Mr. Tower served as the founding Chairman of the Baltimore Leukemia Cup Regatta and Commodore of the Baltimore City Yacht Association.

Mrs. Allen has over 25 years of sales experience. She has completed transactions totaling over 3 million square feet, which have generated over $146 million in revenue. Prior to Broad Reach, she was a Principal at Sierra US as well as a Director of Leasing for DLC Management and Capano Management Company.


In her previous roles, Mrs. Allen was responsible for over 4 million square feet of GLA and managed a team of over twenty personnel. Mrs. Allen graduated from the Lipsey Commercial Real Estate Development Series & Brian Tracy’s personally taught Phoenix Seminar program. She is a United States Navy Veteran, and holds real estate licenses in MD, DC, VA, & FL.


Mrs. Allen is a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition out of SUNY Rochester and, when not on a lacrosse field somewhere with her children, she enjoys helping others with all aspects of health, fitness, and nutrition.

In his role as Partner and Chief Operating Officer, Mike oversees the daily operations of Broad Reach’s

multiple business operations including business development activities such as property management,

capital improvement, construction and development projects. In his 25+ years of commercial real estate

experience, Mike has served as Director of Operations for several real estate operators including Philips

Edison Company, Strategic Properties, and Himmelrich Associates.

Over the course of his career, Mike has been involved in various types of projects ranging from free

standing commercial sites, retail office, industrial, residential, historic, and mixed-use projects of

upwards of $300 million. Mike has overseen the management of nearly 5 million square feet of office,

retail, and industrial space and supervised and managed approximately 30 projects.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, and he is an active

participant in ICSC, NAIOP, and BOMA. During his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family,

boating, fishing and hunting.

Mark Mueller- President, Brokerage

Mark Mueller began his career in retail real estate in early 1981, having first worked with his father at J. Gordon Mueller Co., becoming President of that firm in 1990. In 1996, as the family firm was winding down, he joined the Towson office of KLNB, a large commercial brokerage firm.  At KLNB Mr. Mueller continued his brokerage work representing both retailers as well as shopping center developers.


Mr. Mueller joined Sierra U.S. as President of the Mid-Atlantic region office located in Baltimore, Maryland in 2010. In January of 2018, he created a new brokerage firm, Broad Reach Brokerage, in partnership with Broad Reach Retail Partners, LLC, an investment company based in Annapolis. Broad Reach Retail Partner’s strategy is to acquire and add value to necessity anchored shopping centers in strong markets.  Mr. Mueller felt that Broad Reach was the perfect fit to collaborate in the opening of a new brokerage firm.


 With Mr. Mueller’s almost four decades of expertise and experience in the sale and leasing of Commercial Real Estate, he has a firm grasp on project leasing, retail development, and tenant representation. He has handled over 2 million square feet of retail transactions on behalf of various Landlords and has represented retailers including Advance Auto Parts, Dollar General, Horizon Theaters and others.  He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and holds brokerage licenses in Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.


Liz Hood, CPA - Vice President of Finance

Liz Hood joined Broad Reach Retail Partners in 2016. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Stevenson University. She has over ten years of experience in the public accounting industry, including working as an auditor for a leading international accounting firm for four of those years. 


Additionally, Liz has six years of private accounting experience working as an assistant controller for large Mid-Atlantic HVAC Company.

Liz has a concentration of experience in attestation engagements with a focus on industries including: real estate, construction, restaurants and franchises, government contracting and manufacturing.  She also has a history of performing audits under Government Auditing Standards, including compliance audits under OMB Circulars A-133, A-122 and A-110. 

Liz is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AIPCA) and Maryland Association for Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). 


As a volunteer for Gilchrist Hospice, she is on their auction committee and has volunteered as a tax preparer for the Volunteer Income Tax Association (VITA).

Eric Penney joined Broad Reach Retail Partners as our Director of Development & Redevelopment in 2019.  Eric is a seasoned real estate professional with over 20 years of experience in leasing, lease negotiation, site selection, development, redevelopment, acquisition and disposition of large owned retail portfolios throughout the USA.  Eric has completed over 3 million square feet of various real estate transactions and executed over 800 deals while creating billions of dollars in value for his firms and clients.


Before joining Broad Reach Retail, Eric spent 6 years at Phillips Edison & Company as the Director of Redevelopment and 10 years at Brixmor as the Director of Redevelopment.  Eric also leased real estate portfolios for various boutique landlords and helped to grow a lease auditing business.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from Sacred Heart University.  


In Eric’s free time, he volunteers at Buckhead Church and as an assistant baseball coach for a local youth recreational league.

Joe has over 12 years of experience in real estate with 8 years in retail leasing and commercial development. As Director of Leasing, Joe is responsible for leasing Broad Reach Retail’s owned and managed properties throughout the Mid-West.


Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Auburn University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He originally hails from New Orleans and currently lives in Atlanta with his wife, Erin, and yellow lab, Brees. They enjoy traveling the world and drinking its wine.

Nathan McKay- Acquisitions Officer

Nathan “Nate” McKay has over 10 years of experience in commercial real estate. 


In his role as Acquisitions Officer, Nate is responsible for sourcing and evaluating acquisitions and redevelopment opportunities throughout the United States. In addition to his role in acquisitions, he assists with financing, due diligence and capital raising. 


Prior to joining Broad Reach, he worked as the Director of Market Research for First Washington Realty, a pension fund adviser that owns core grocery-anchored real estate throughout the United States. 


Nate has experience in valuation, deal sourcing and market analysis, and was involved in the acquisition of over $350M of shopping centers. Nate also worked as a Senior Analyst at First Capital Realty, an institutional apartment broker, and assisted in the sale and marketing of $650M in assets. 


He holds a Master of Science in Real Estate from American University, and a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Ana has over 16 years of private accounting experience, five of those years within the commercial real estate industry in both publicly traded and privately held organizations. This includes extensive experience in developing client relationships and accounting teams and overseeing the accounting for institutional and high-net-worth clients totaling over 25 million square feet of office, retail, industrial, flex and medical product types buildings.

Ana holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Maryland. Prior to joining Broad Reach, she worked as an Assistant Controller for a large construction equipment company in the Mid-Atlantic.


Ana actively participates in community service activities including the following organizations: The Baltimore Station a residential facility for returning veterans, My Sister’s Place servicing homeless and battered women, and a member of the outreach committee for CREW Baltimore.


During her free time, Ana enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and outdoor activities.

Jake Kennedy - Acquisitions Associate

Jake Kennedy joined Broad Reach Retail Partners in January 2020. As an Acquisitions Associate, Jake is responsible for evaluating potential acquisitions and assists in establishing the capital structure for acquisitions and development projects.

Prior to joining Broad Reach, Jake worked as a Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager at BB&T, where he focused on underwriting new credit requests and monitoring existing credits.

Jake holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University and will obtain his MBA in Finance from The Indiana University Kelley School of Business in August 2020.

Lisa has over 17 years of experience in the commercial real estate management field. Prior to joining Broad Reach, Lisa served as Property Manager for Holland Properties Management, Inc.and Lee Chesapeake Property Management where she solely managed a regional portfolio of over 2.0 million square feet of mixed use, office, retail, non-profit medical office, condominium associations, ground leases and industrial property. She developed and implemented value enhancing technical operational, maintenance/repair and capital standards for a portfolio over 40 properties.

Lisa is a Certified Property Manager (CPM) and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate

and Economic Development from the University of Baltimore.

Lisa is a self-described foodie who loves craft beer and music. In her free time, Lisa enjoys

traveling, horseback riding and outdoor sports.

Glenn E. Ulick- Sr. Brokerage Associate

Glenn Ulick began his real estate career in 2005 at a small, boutique firm in Baltimore and joined his two partners in moving over to Grubb & Ellis to replace Grubb’s recently departed Mid-Atlantic Retail team. Glenn remained at Grubb and part of the same retail team through the purchase by Newmark in 2012. In 2018, Glenn began to look for a new opportunity and joined Broad Reach to help launch the brokerage division.


In his nearly 13 years in commercial real estate, Glenn has represented retailers such as Citibank, Party City, Lane Bryant, Apple Federal Credit Union, Cold Stone Creamery, Goodwill (completing transactions totaling over 250,000 sf for this tenant alone). Glenn has also worked as a national master broker for the country’s largest chain of cosmetology schools, effectively using his network and bringing in the right people in markets across the US. Glenn has also represented a number of landlords including Kimco Realty and Regency Centers. Aside from retail leasing, Glenn has also done land acquisition work on behalf of his credit union clients and, most notably, his fast-growing assisted living developer, Thrive Senior Living. He has also done valuation and advisory work for retailers and lenders.


Prior to commercial real estate, Glenn spent 12 years at MBNA America, then the country’s largest independent credit card issuer, managing in Business Development, Operations and Quality Assurance. Glenn also spent five years after college in retail automotive finance, working with dealerships to complete between one and three million dollars each month in retail automotive transactions. While in college, Glenn had the unique opportunity to work at the Improv Comedy club in Dallas. Initially as a bouncer, Glenn began to help out with marketing, eventually managing the highly successful promotions and marketing function. This led to Glenn’s promotion to General Manager and the addition of a second franchise unit to manage -- all while still a senior in college.


Glenn brings outstanding people and project skills and a wealth of contacts and experience. He is an avid hiker and an aspiring electric bass player. Glenn holds a BA in Economics and Finance and an MBA, both from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is licensed in Maryland, DC and Virginia and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is also on the board of his congregation and chairs several important committees there. Glenn and his wife of 31 years are blessed with three amazing children.

Lindsay has over 10 years of experience as a marketing and communications professional with a demonstrated history of working in the commercial real estate and construction industries. She’s a passionate storyteller, focusing on corporate branding and strategy. Lindsay is well-versed in both traditional and digital marketing, including social media, various forms of advertising, content creation, video, web, SEO and public relations.


As the Director of Marketing & Investor Liaison at Broad Reach, Lindsay is responsible for developing and managing the company’s overall marketing strategy including corporate branding and messaging. She is also heavily involved in investor communications, tenant relations, and employee engagement.


Lindsay holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has also worked in the maritime, hospitality and secondary education industries.

In her free time, Lindsay enjoys spending time with her family of four, an occasional round of golf, and trying new wines.

Steve joined Broad Reach Retail Partners in January 2019.  Steve plays an imperative role at Broad Reach Retail Partners by assisting & managing property management projects as well as day-to-day accounting activities.  His career of over 30 years includes Purchasing Manager, Facilities Manager and Accounting.   


Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC.  In his spare time, Steve enjoys golfing, boating, and spending time with family.

Kimberly Todd - Commercial Leasing Coordinator

Kimberly Todd joined Broad Reach Retail Partners in 2020 with over 20 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate. Prior to joining Broad Reach Retail Partners, Kimberly was a Property Administrator with St. John Properties overseeing a portfolio of 3 million square feet of office, retail and flex space. Prior to St. John Properties, she was as a Senior Lease Administrator for KLNB Management handling a portfolio of 4.5 million square feet of office, retail, flex and warehouse space for various landlords including institutional owners.

Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts & Communication from Towson University. In addition to her career in Commercial Real Estate, Kimberly has also managed several Nine West Group retail stores in the Baltimore/Washington area.

In Kimberly’s free time she enjoys spending time with her husband of 23 years and two daughters.

Ruth Henry - Senior Lease Administrator

After serving as an Acquisitions team consultant to Broad Reach Retail Partners, LLC since 2018, Ruth joined the Broad Reach Retail Partners team in 2020 as the Senior Lease Administrator. 


Ruth is a 22-year commercial real estate industry veteran.  She attended Barton College (Wilson, NC) and started her career with the leasing team at Carolina Power & Light (now Duke Energy) and Highwoods Properties, both in Raleigh, NC. After returning to the DC area in 2004, she managed the Lease Administration team for a 1.3 million square foot Tishman Speyer (formerly CarrAmerica) office portfolio in Washington, DC.  In 2009, hired as CBRE Inc.’s Lease Administration Finance Manager, she began managing the financial aspects of third-party owned office and retail properties throughout DC, VA and Maryland.   Ruth’s areas of specialty are operating expense reconciliations, Landlord and Tenant representation, and asset management. 


Originally from Cheltenham, Maryland, Ruth lives in Virginia with her husband, two children and dog.  When she’s not reading leases, Ruth serves as a church pianist and organist for Falmouth Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA.   Ruth also enjoys quality time with the kids, crossword puzzles and Christmas decorating.

Tammy Lee- Senior Associate, Brokerage

Tammy joined Broad Reach Brokerage as a Senior Associate in January 2018. Prior to that she was employed with Sierra Mid Atlantic for eight years, specializing in retail leasing, as well as developing prospective franchisees for various retail operations such as laundromats, dry cleaners, and assorted carry out and restaurant concepts.


Currently Tammy represents exciting retailers such as Kokee Tea, Wave Max, and US Machinery. She also represents locally one of the largest Korean food distributor and hotel/leisure developers, Seoul Trading Company.

Tammy is an active member of the Baltimore area’s Korean community and has a vast cultural understanding of the Korean business community which is a rare asset. Since 2003, she has been bridging the gap between the robust and growing Korean business community and local landlords, specializing in retail investment sales and leasing.

Rudder T and Rider C – Dogs in Residence

11-year old Rudder is a founding paw-tner of the company. Now retired, Rudder visits the office occasionally to meet and greet new employees, patrol the premises, and share tips with his protege’ Rider. Rudder enjoys relaxing on the back deck and spending time with his family.

2-year old Rider is an integral part of the office, attending weekly staff meetings and keeping an eye on all deliveries and visitors. In his free time, Rider is an avid boater, logging weekly trips with the family to waterfront destinations up and down the Chesapeake Bay.
