Meet Our Crew

Nathaniel “Nate” Tower is the founder and managing member of Broad Reach Retail Partners, LLC.  Prior to the formation of Broad Reach, Mr. Tower was the Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”) at Phillips Edison & Company (“PECO”), one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing owner/operators of grocery-anchored shopping centers and premier acquisition groups.

As CIO, Mr. Tower led PECO’s effort to acquire, finance and grow the company’s portfolio from 5 centers in 1996 to over 90 centers when he left the company in 2005.  During this period, Mr. Tower bought 85 shopping centers in 50 separate transactions, with over $490 million in total transaction value.  Mr. Tower’s leadership and transaction success at PECO increased the company’s Net Operating Income in excess of $50.65 million and the value-add nature of the opportunities created an additional $250 million of net new value for the investors in the company.  

Prior to joining Phillips Edison & Company, Mr. Tower spent 7 years at Collier Pinkard, a premiere 3rd party Real Estate Brokerage and Property Management Company in Baltimore.  Mr. Tower has his Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster and his Masters in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University.  Mr. Tower formed the JEMICY School’s Alumni Association and served on the school’s board for 8 years.  In addition, Mr. Tower served as the founding Chairman of the Baltimore Leukemia Cup Regatta and Commodore of the Baltimore City Yacht Association.

In his role as Partner and Chief Operating Officer, Mike oversees the daily operations of Broad Reach’s multiple business operations including business development activities such as property management, capital improvement, construction and development projects. In his 25+ years of commercial real estate experience, Mike has served as Director of Operations for several real estate operators including Philips Edison Company, Strategic Properties, and Himmelrich Associates.

Over the course of his career, Mike has been involved in various types of projects ranging from freestanding commercial sites, retail office, industrial, residential, historic, and mixed-use projects of upwards of $300 million. Mike has overseen the management of nearly 5 million square feet of office, retail, and industrial space and supervised and managed approximately 30 projects.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, and he is an active participant in ICSC, NAIOP, and BOMA. During his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, boating, fishing and hunting.

Ted Kallergis serves as Chief Financial Officer at Broad Reach Retail Partners, where he leads the company’s financial strategy, accounting operations, and capital markets activities. He brings over 15 years of finance and commercial real estate experience, with a focus on building financial platforms, structuring transactions, and supporting strategic growth.

Before joining Broad Reach, Ted held leadership roles at Phillips Edison & Company, a public REIT specializing in grocery-anchored shopping centers. During his time there, he helped build the company’s investment management platform, oversaw three institutional portfolios, and led financial planning and strategic transactions. He also served as a Principal at KreditForce LLC, an independent merchant bank. Ted began his career in the Global Real Estate, Lodging, and Leisure Group at UBS Investment Bank, advising institutional clients on mergers, acquisitions, and capital strategies.

Ted holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University, with majors in Finance and Accounting. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, kayaking, exploring history, particularly shipwrecks and exploration, and spending time with his wife and their growing family.

Gary Block joins the Broad Reach crew with over 30 years of retail real estate experience including all aspects of leasing, strategic planning, development, management and financial analysis. Gary has served as Senior VP of Leasing East Coast at Combined Properties, a Washington, DC-based retail investor, developer and operator. He also served as Principal at Block Development Group, where he provided consulting services for developers on leasing, development and redevelopment strategies. Previous to those positions, he was Vice President of Leasing (Canada) for Tanger Outlets, Vice President at The Cordish Company and Senior Vice President of Leasing at Prime Retail.

In his spare time, Gary loves spending time with his wife and 3 grown kids by being on the water boating and fishing, traveling, working out and playing and watching sports of all kinds. When he’s not with the family, he enjoys reading and getting his hands dirty with projects around the house.

Before joining Broad Reach, Jim Whelan served as the Vice President of Retail Transactions at Chase Properties, where he oversaw all retail acquisitions and dispositions. Prior to his time at Chase, Jim dedicated over a decade to various directorial roles at Harbour Retail Partners (Atlanta) and BC Wood Properties (Lexington). His responsibilities spanned acquisitions, asset management, leasing, and property management. Jim holds the prestigious CCIM designation and is an active participant in ICSC.

A graduate of Transylvania University, Jim resides in Louisville, KY, with his wife, Lauren, and their two children, Charlotte and Graham.

Eric Penney joined Broad Reach Retail Partners as our Director of Development & Redevelopment in 2019.  Eric is a seasoned real estate professional with over 20 years of experience in leasing, lease negotiation, site selection, development, redevelopment, acquisition and disposition of large owned retail portfolios throughout the USA.  Eric has completed over 3 million square feet of various real estate transactions and executed over 800 deals while creating billions of dollars in value for his firms and clients.

Before joining Broad Reach Retail, Eric spent 6 years at Phillips Edison & Company as the Director of Redevelopment and 10 years at Brixmor as the Director of Redevelopment.  Eric also leased real estate portfolios for various boutique landlords and helped to grow a lease auditing business.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from Sacred Heart University.  

In Eric’s free time, he volunteers at Buckhead Church and as an assistant baseball coach for a local youth recreational league.

As a part of the Capital Markets team, Ryan Jones plays a critical role in the acquisition due diligence, acquisition financing, dispositions, and asset management of the Broad Reach portfolio. Through these responsibilities, he creates and drives value for Broad Reach. Prior to this role, Ryan spent 3 years on the Accounting Team at Broad Reach and was responsible for many cyclical activities in the portfolio. This experience helps Ryan bring creativity and attention to detail to the acquisitions team.

Ryan resides in Downtown Baltimore, MD, where he takes full advantage of all the activities and events the city offers its residents. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys golf and basketball, playing music, and trying every restaurant within walking distance.

With approximately 6 years of experience in commercial real estate, Wells Stanwick has joined Broad Reach Retail most recently from EDENS, where he primarily oversaw the entitlement and construction of development projects across the Northeast. As a Baltimore native, Wells attended Johns Hopkins University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

In his free time, Wells enjoys traveling, hiking with my dog Fitz, and relaxing with my wife and family.

Emily Roberts joins Broad Reach Retail Partners to lead the company’s Marketing & Communications, bringing over 14 years of experience in real estate marketing, design, and creative team leadership. During her career, Emily’s expertise in luxury branding, project management, and strategic marketing has driven multiple world record-breaking results, including achieving the highest price ever at auction for a residential property, topping $141 million. Prior to Broad Reach, Emily served as VP of Marketing at Concierge Auctions, where she spearheaded award-winning marketing campaigns, and led the company’s marketing team through a rebrand and acquisition by Sotheby’s auction house and Anywhere real estate conglomerate. 

Outside of work, Emily enjoys traveling (with a goal to visit all seven continents), cooking Cajun dishes, attending concerts, and exploring textile arts like cross-stitching and needlepoint. She also loves spending time with her husband, Michael, and their two dogs, Todd, a Dalmatian, and Honey, a Great Pyrenees mix.

Glenda Neal joined Broad Reach Retail Partners as a Property Accountant.  She has over 15 years of experience within the finance and accounting realm working in various industries including manufacturing, retail, construction and development, property management, non-profit and law.

In 2018, Glenda received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Business Administration from Chestnut Hill College and then received her Masters of Business Administration along with a Certificate in Project Management from West Chester University in 2020.

Glenda hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She enjoys doing volunteer work for different organizations and spending time with family and friends including her son.

Dave joined Broad Reach as an Acquisitions Associate and has now transitioned into a Development Associate. He will be supporting in the sourcing and construction of new development and redevelopment opportunities for the team. Prior to joining Broad Reach, David Rogers worked as a Capital Markets Associate for Metropolis Capital Advisors, where he arranged financing for all property types around the Mid-Atlantic region. David Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Ursinus College. We are excited to have Dave as a member of our crew!

Kimberly Todd joined Broad Reach Retail Partners in 2020 with over 20 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate. Prior to joining Broad Reach Retail Partners, Kimberly was a Property Administrator with St. John Properties overseeing a portfolio of 3 million square feet of office, retail and flex space. Prior to St. John Properties, she was as a Senior Lease Administrator for KLNB Management handling a portfolio of 4.5 million square feet of office, retail, flex and warehouse space for various landlords including institutional owners.

Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts & Communication from Towson University. In addition to her career in Commercial Real Estate, Kimberly has also managed several Nine West Group retail stores in the Baltimore/Washington area.

In Kimberly’s free time she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and fur baby Winnie.

Steve joined Broad Reach Retail Partners in January 2019.  Steve plays an imperative role at Broad Reach Retail Partners by assisting & managing property management projects as well as day-to-day accounting activities.  His career of over 30 years includes Purchasing Manager, Facilities Manager, and Accounting.   

Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC.  In his spare time, Steve enjoys golfing, boating, and spending time with family.

Allie Jones joined Broad Reach Retail Partners in February 2021 with over five years’ experience as a Property Administrator. Prior to joining Board Reach Retail Partners, she worked as a Property Administrator for St. John Properties, managing a portfolio of over two million square feet and 200 tenants in office and flex space. In her role, she administered all Leases and Amendments, and maintained the tenants’ accounts for her portfolio, including all collection efforts.
Allie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her hobby is teaching dance to all ages and she has over ten years of experience in teaching.

In her spare time, Allie enjoys traveling, the beach, and spending time with her husband Joe, daughter DellaRae and dog Cali.

Alex Kipp is joining Broad Reach in 2023 as a Property Manager. Alex graduated from Bob Jones University with a Sports Management degree and a minor in Business. He then went on to receive his master’s degree from Messiah University. Prior to Broad Reach, he coached college basketball at the NCAA D3 level for three years. He served as the recruiting and travel coordinator as well as managed day to day operations within the program.

Alex grew up a Baltimore Orioles fan and enjoys being acquainted with all levels within the organization. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with his wife Ashli, son Landon, and dog Bentley.

Tug, our delightful Doodle pup, is the official Puplick Relations Manager, bringing tail-wagging charm to our team. With a nose for making friends and a talent for fetching smiles, Tug ensures our office is filled with canine charisma and paw-sitive vibes!

Meet Rider, our Operations Scratchetist, playing a crucial role in the office by attending weekly staff meetings and overseeing all deliveries and visitors. Beyond office duties, Rider transforms into an enthusiastic boater, embarking on weekly waterfront adventures up and down the Chesapeake Bay with his family.
